RUMFORD— Quarterback Cameron Kaubris threw touchdown pass and ran for another and the defense was strong when it had to be as Mountain Valley held firm Friday night with a 21-7 triumph over Falmouth in a football game at Chet Bulger field. The Falcons beat Falmouth twice last year, 42-7 and 41-6 in a Campbell Conference semifinal game, but the Yachtsmen were well prepared this time.

Mountain Valley ( 7-0) started strong and scored twice in the first quarter with two long drives. Kaubris threw a 45-yard strike to Tyler Mason, who had beaten the coverage. Kaubris also dove in from the 1 yard line. Jacob Arsenault (23 this fall) kicked both PATs to put the Falcons ahead 14-0.

"I'm proud my kids," Mountain Valley coach Jim Aylward said. "They played hard and so did Falmouth. The competition is getting better and we need to step it up."

The running game was led by Matt Duka (165 yards, 21 rushes, TDs) and Brady Fergola (48 yards, rushes), who each earned some hard yards.
